Another Uncut recommendation, this. They said it sounded like Royal Trux, which was what sent me off to try it, and its pretty true. Its like Trux if theyd recognised the existence of any music after 1975, so partly you get messy, spacy art-rock at a drawling, laidback pace (with male and female vocals, too), but then they also get all experimental with hip hop rhythms and samples as well. By the same token, if Trux-type fuzzy effects and out-of-tune singing make you unhappy, youd better steer clear. I thought it was great, though. Its like theyre taking songs apart and seeing how they work and somehow its very pleasant to hear it happen. I ended up playing it loads without really realising it was happening. Crap name, though. |
